NYFW: Birchboxblogger Event

At this point if you are here in NYC enjoying NYFW, or if you are following from a distance, you may be tired of all the posts you have seen so I will keep this light and fun! While I have been traveling like a crazy person for the past two weeks - explaining my lack of posts (sorry guys!) - I have had the chance to part take in a few events.

Last night, my lovely friend Lauren and I attended the Birchboxbloggers event in Chelsea Market. Sometimes these events fail to impress, but let me tell you, this was so fun and above my expectations. Instantly upon arriving, we were greeted at the door with help yourself candy options that were as cute as can be. After getting some sweet treats, we moved on through free manicures, hair and make-up. To make things even better, while waiting to fill our very own DIY Birchbox - we were handed glasses of champagne. What else could a girl ask for? I snapped some pictures of the event and my amazing Birchbox. It was a night to remember. Thanks so much for such a great event Birchbox!

Amazing products from: Twistband, Benefit, drybar, Stilla, Smashbox and Marcelle

Fashion Trend: Baseball Caps

Fashion Trend: Baseball Caps
Click HERE to view these hats and more

Whether it be seeing this trend on the NYC streets or reading it on fashion blogs, I am seeing baseball caps everywhere. These aren't your normal team sport oriented baseball caps either (while I still love those); these are made for the fashion forward girl who may want to edge up an outfit or simply cover a bad hair day. I think a hat can be a perfect addition to an outfit. J.Crew recently came out with a few perfect baseball caps for fall that I am dying over. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments section below!

The Best iPhone Cases

J.Crew (iPhone 5)
Rifle Paper Co.
Rifle Paper Co (NYC themed!)

J.Crew (iPhone 4)

We all are constantly on our phones right? So what better way to make a statement than with an amazing iPhone case. I need to desperately get an upgrade to an iPhone 5 due to the slow speed of my iPhone 4 (I know, big problem), so I have been on the hunt to get the perfect case. My personal favorite is the grey studded J.Crew case. Can you believe it's J.Crew?

Which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments section below.

Spring Jackets

Being as it is the beginning of May, we are slowly transitioning from a time of cooler climates to warmer ones (thank goodness). This means that we can finally get rid of our winter coats for the season and embrace a lighter shell to keep us a little warmer on those chilly spring days. There are so many coats I have been eyeing this season. I recently purchased this coat so I am afraid that while I love all the items I listed below, I have reached my jacket allotment for this season, unless an amazing sale comes my way. A girl can dream (or stalk on-line) can't she? Find below great coats to help you transition into spring.

White Blazers

Who said you can't wear white before labor day? I would like to think that many of us have dismissed this saying and have fully embraced a powerful white item in the days, weeks and months before and/or after labor day. One item that I am currently craving is a white blazer. A white blazer with the right cut, length, and shoulder can turn a boring outfit into a powerful statement. Even though the color white is not that exciting by itself, with its crisp and straight lines it can make you stand out. I have my eye on a few white blazers, but have yet to decide on the exact one for this season. Here are some of the white blazers I am loving right now.

Zara

Rebecca Minkoff

Zara
I own this in a different color and I know this isn't exactly white (its more an off white) - I love it so much.

Do you own a white blazer? If so where did you get yours? Let me know below in the comments section!

Faux Collar

I have seen collar necklaces on many fashion blogs lately, but I have not seen as many as I would like to in person. Why? (I ask myself) - well it's simple. For such an easy trend that spices up an outfit and gives it a more dashing, fun and flirty look, it feels a bit risky. Questions of: will this look okay?, or is this too much? come into our heads. I think it is time to accept this trend and to embrace it, I know I am going to start. Enjoy!

Inspiration: Tangerine and Chains

There are some things that I am currently stalking and obsessing over on-line and in stores right now. After the Shopbop 20% off sale, and a few other purchases in between, I need to take some time and think about my next "investment". Enter Pinterest. The other night while on Pinterest, I stumbled upon this photo and inspiration found here. I love everything about this picture from the color of the top, the jewelery and the flowing waves. The bracelet and watch she is wearing were actually just featured in my post found here. Below you can find the rest of the exact items from the picture, as well as a few complimentary pieces that I was inspired by. Enjoy!

HI low

The hi-low skirt trend appeared this season with a bang, and I'm kind of liking it, a lot. It is a great way to show off some leg while still maintaining that conservative vibe. The trend looks good in both skirts and dresses. If you are trying this out for the first time, and not sure if you can pull it off, some of the items below are under ten dollars! Check it out.

Adriano Goldschmied

LC Lauren Conrad

BCBG

These skirts can be found at Target for under ten dollars! Loving both options. Click here to purchase.

Have you purchased any hi-low skirts/dresses this season?

Take it to the Max

You can't beat a good maxi. Whether it be a maxi skirt or maxi dress, both bring that wow effect. There were so many times when I almost bought a maxi dress last year, but I just didn't know how I could pull it off. When I say pull it off, I don't only mean the way it looked, but the right occassion to wear it on. Recenlty while I was shopping at J.Crew (shocker), I saw this beautiful stripped maxi dress. I feel in love, not only with the pattern and the gold button detail, but the price (under $100). I wore it on the plane recently and it was like wearing sweatpants (kinda). It is the ultimate comfortable piece that really puts a statement with minimal effort. Maxi dresses and skirts are in this season. See below the options I am loving most right now.

J.Crew
This was my recent purchase and plane outfit. Flattering, comfortable and afordable.

Victoria Secret
This is a great option that is similiar to the one Blair wore in this post found here (skirt also comes in purple).

Right now Shopbop has 20% for friends and family with the code: IntheFamily20. You can use this to purchase some of the items above.

Do you own any maxi items, if so what?

Gingham

Happy Monday to everyone! Unfortunately, I return back to the real world from Aruba today, but luckily I get to spend a few hours in the sun before I do so. To kick off the week, I thought I would post about a certain pattern that I love and that I have recently made a purchase in - gingham. Now, I am going to be completely honest with you, I did not know what this pattern was called until recently. I bought an orange and white gingham button up last season from J.Crew but called it an award "checkered plaid?". So to those that were unfamiliar this was called gingham, do not be ashamed. You can wear this pattern not only as a button up, but as a dress as well. See below the options I am lusting over right now! Hope you enjoy.

Polka Dots!

As you can see from my recent post on stripes found here, I am in love with patterns this season. Polka dots in particular. I love polka dots for tops, bottoms, dresses, you name it. Just don't get too carried away with a matching polka dot on polka dot outfit. Below you will find some of the options that I can't wait to purchase, and some I already have. Oh and also, don't be afraid to match polka dots with stripes, if you so dare. Enjoy!

Stripe Party

What better way to welcome the weekend then a stripe party! Stripes are popping up everywhere this season. While I have always been a fan of this trend, this season or not, some others were not. Do not be afraid of the "stripes make you look larger" tall tale, because if worn the right way, they can do wonders for you. Below you will find some stripes that I am loving right now. It allows my inner preppy side to come out after all, and I always embrace that. Have a great weekend everyone and a happy holiday!

Workday Wednesday: Silk Scarves

Silk scarves and I get along together really well. Why? Let me count the ways. First of all, they are perfect for spring, especially when you are going from an indoor to outdoor environment throughout the day. They are a different way to keep you warm for those chilly office situations, but fashionable enough to pop outside for a quick bite to eat. Secondly, they spice up any outfit. Wearing a dress that just isn't doing it for you? Throwing on this silk scarf will give it that element of interest to instantly make you look put together. While scarves are always in style, the silk scarf is one that is starting to appear more and more in stores due the season and the trend in general. Here are some options below at all price points. Enjoy!

Kate Spade

Lauren by Ralph Lauren

Juicy Couture (Love the colors on this one)

And for a not so literal interpretation on the trend, here is a "silk scarf" shirt. You can find these type of patterns not just for tops, but for dresses as well. Below is a top that I am loving right now from Zara.
