Amazing Labor Day Weekend Sales

Labor Day Weekend Dresses

One of my readers recently requested a post on affordable Labor Day dresses. The problem with Labor Day is, that it comes at a time where it begins to feel like fall, while still being summer. This makes purchasing a new dress difficult because you want to make sure the dress you are getting is versatile. Therefore, I decided to put together a list of amazing sales that are taking place at some of my favorite stores and include some of the transitional items that I am loving for the end of the summer straight into fall.  Check out some of the items I am loving above (for Labor Day dresses) and the awesome sales taking place this weekend! Have a great long weekend everyone.

C.Wonder is having 25% of all full priced items with the code "LABORDAY". I am loving these amazing leggings, this pair of leopard heals and this top.

J.Crew 25% Off

J.Crew 25% Off

As always, J.Crew impresses us with their fall collection which debuted on Pinterest this week. The trends according to J.Crew for the fall are colors, camo, sporty and leather. All of these, I can definetly get behind (especially leather details). Right now J.Crew is offering 25% off with the code FALLSTYLE. Above are the items I am lusting over. Yes I know, the same top is there twice (I can't decide which color to get).

Which item(s) above should I invest in for fall? Are there any other items at J.Crew you are craving? Let me know in the comments below.

Affordable Work Wear

Affordable Work Wear

Some people hate it, but I personally love dressing for work. That feeling of being a young business professional in New York City and dressing the part is exciting to me. While I obviously have a love for J.Crew, I have an equal appreciation for J.Crew Factory (especially their prices!). While looking for some new work dresses for the fall, I came across a plethora of amazing dresses at amazing prices at J.Crew Factory. Right now they are having a huge sale (up to 40% off). Check out above some of my favorites!

What are some dresses you are excited to get for fall?

Stacy London: Style Twin

Do you know that moment when you see a celebrity, or your favorite blogger (who are mini celebrities to those of us who read blogs) rocking an item you already own? For me, the moment happened a few months ago when Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific uploaded an Instagram photo of the same old navy sailboat blouse I had worn the day before. Well, a similar event occured last night when I saw Stacy London rocking a Milly dress I had purchased on sale almost 8 months ago. So thank you Stacy London and What Not to Wear for featuring a dress I own for what to wear.

Have you ever spotted a celebrity or blogger rocking something that you already own? Let me know in the comments section below!

Workday Wednesday: First Outfit Post!

As someone who reads blogs everyday, one of the items I personally enjoy the most is seeing actual outfits on my favorite bloggers. Since I started this blog, I have wanted to post outfit pictures. Here is an outfit that I wore to work with a necklace I posted about here. With the inspiration of workday Wednesday, I wanted to show a realistic outfit that I would (and did) wear to work. I like that it involves staple pieces with a pop of color in the necklace and playful color blocking in the shoes. Hope you enjoy!

Workday Wednesday: Office Jewelry

Work outfits can be boring. Even if you have that fun blouse or two, they get old, especially when its your uniform 5 days a week. The one thing that you can rely on the spice up an outfit is good jewelry. Now, each office environment is different. Some offices you can get away with wearing the boldest statement necklace, while in other offices a single stranded pearl necklace is the only thing acceptable. There can, however, be a happy medium. Below I have selected some options I think really go in any office place if you wear them the right way. They make it known that you have a sense of style, while still maintaining your professionalism.

Workday Wednesday: Glasses

Yep I said it, glasses, and as a trend - shocking. Lately I have been putting off the fact that I actually need glasses. Starring at a computer screen for two years straight will do that to you. My friend mentioned a brand called Warby Parker that allows you to try on 5 sets of glasses at home, then return them. She was ordering 3 pairs for herself, and kindly asked what I would want to try on as my 2. I tried on a pair and rocked them around for a day, and finally got my mind set that it was okay at 24 years old to wear glasses. I therefore got the guts to go to an eye doctor to get checked out, and what do you know, I actually needed glasses. So we can thank my friend, and Warby Parker, for finally allowing me to admit to myself that, that little blurry feeling I was finding, was a reality. Below you will find the glasses I actually loved, but there are many other options. Best part, they are only $95. I would encourage you to explore and if you have never had your eyes checked, you really should!

Workday Wednesday: Silk Scarves

Silk scarves and I get along together really well. Why? Let me count the ways. First of all, they are perfect for spring, especially when you are going from an indoor to outdoor environment throughout the day. They are a different way to keep you warm for those chilly office situations, but fashionable enough to pop outside for a quick bite to eat. Secondly, they spice up any outfit. Wearing a dress that just isn't doing it for you? Throwing on this silk scarf will give it that element of interest to instantly make you look put together. While scarves are always in style, the silk scarf is one that is starting to appear more and more in stores due the season and the trend in general. Here are some options below at all price points. Enjoy!

Kate Spade

Lauren by Ralph Lauren

Juicy Couture (Love the colors on this one)

And for a not so literal interpretation on the trend, here is a "silk scarf" shirt. You can find these type of patterns not just for tops, but for dresses as well. Below is a top that I am loving right now from Zara.

Workday Wednesday: Best Work Flats

I am a flat shoe lover through and through. Maybe this is because I am 5'9" and I like to not be much taller than anyone I am with, or maybe it's because of the comfort. Either way, 90% of my working shoes are flats and I'm perfectly fine with that. I have a slight obsession with Tory Burch, and day dreams of Salvatore Ferragamo, but I digress. Looking for that perfect work flat? Look no further! Below you will find options in many price points to give you that polished, professional look while still maintaining the comfort (and for the tall: your height).
Chanel
Hey a girl can dream, can't she?

Salvatore Ferragamo
Love these. Want these.

Tory Burch Reva Flat
I have far too many pairs of Tory Burch flats, but one I do not have is this black with the classic gold. Purchase to come.

Jessica Simpson
This pair goes for under $70 and will go with almost anything.

What is your favorite work flat? Leave comments below and let me know!

Workday Wednesday: Cropped Work Pants

I could go on for days about cropped work pants. And for those of you not in the corporate world, these pants are still a way to look put together instantly. When I first started working right out of college about two years ago, I had bought some of the J.Crew Minnie pants, but I wasn't completely sold on this trend yet. I had just started to embrace the leggings and skinny jeans. It was too soon for the crops. I started to pair these Minnie pants with boots so they felt like any old pair of leggings, just better material and slightly more formal if you will. After a year or so of doing this, I finally paired them with flats. I know, shocking.

Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE these, just more for play and less for work day.

Fast forward to six months ago, I was with my mom shopping at home and I finally bought my first official work, appropriately fitting, cropped pants. I was sold. Since that time, it has been colder out so the need for these cropped pants has not come up... until recently, when the weather has been warm and amazing. I went to Zara the other day and noticed some cropped pants. I finally gave in to trying a pair on because they usually are only $50-$60. What better way to start becoming comfortable with a trend than to embrace it affordably?

Here are my new cropped work pants from Zara that I am obsessed with, both in color, and in fit. (Note: Zara tends to run smaller - or more accurately - than other stores. Keep this in mind when you try pants. I suggest going up a size, especially for work pants so they aren't super tight).

Double Cloth Trousers

I got the double cloth trousers in black and navy. I liked that they did not have the belt loops. I got the black in my normal size, and the navy in a size up. The navy is perfect for work, and once the black streches out slightly, it will be perfect as well.

Trousers with Turn-Up Hem
I loved the color of these pants. The fit, perfect. I sized up in these as well and it was a much more appropriate fit for work.

What are your favorite cropped pants?
